Plasmoceramic Corundum Items

Our company offers a wide range of high-temperature corundum items fabricated by plasma sputtering of chemically pure aluminum oxide:

  • single-layer corundum items working T is under 1900°C;
  • composite corundum items with the inner resistive layer working T is under 1300°C;
  • composite metal-ceramic articles of platinum-ceramic working T is under 1500°C.

The main operational advantage of corundum plasmaceramic is its high refractory properties — up to 1900°C, resistance to thermo shocks and to exposures of metal melting, acids, and also high precision in dimensions of ceramic items.

Application:

  • In metallurgic, chemical and dental industries refractory corundum items made under the plasma sputtering technology are applied as follows:
  • crucibles for melting metals and alloys, overflow funnels, lids and other elements of melting-pouring units. The absence of oxide inclusions is guaranteed;
  • bushings into graphite crucibles, crucible for protection of melting (for example, «white» gold) against carbonization;
  • vacuum-tight container items for carrying out high temperature process in vacuum or inert environment;
  • heating shields, thermo containers and refractory in resistance and induction furnaces;
  • elements of gas and beam outlets capable of standing high temperatures and thermo shocks;
  • tubes, valves, and pump parts at pumping abrasive acid pulps at high pressure and temperature.

We produce composite plasmaceramic corundum Items with the inner resistive layer. Such items operate as heaters in the induction field, and also they operate when heated in the transmitted current at the temperature under 1300°C

Our Company has an experience in production and operation of the composite platinum + ceramic items which are applied at temperatures under 1400°C. In the given items corundum plasmaceramic serves as basis, and platinum protects the construction from an effect of aggressive environment.

he main advantage of such combination is that it provides 3—5 times safety of precious metals, and it also reduces irrevocable loss during the operation process. As for resistance properties the composite crucibles do not yield to whole platinum ones, being much more cheaper due to decreasing of Pt thickness layer to 0,3mm.

Plasmaceramic corundum products in hydrometallurgy.

Perspective area of application is thermo treating of chemical compositions of Platinum alloys.

Russian refining factories have accumulated multifarious experience of plasma ceramic corundums implementation as containers for burning hard soluble salts calcinations (chlorplatinum ammonium, palladium amine) and ferrous metals of Platinum. High purity of final product is provided along with high-temperature strength and shock-resistance; no addition of foreign inclusions into final product.

Maximum temperature of burning which the manufactures stand is up to 1500°C.

Plasma ceramic crucibles are successfully implemented into dissolving of hard soluble metals as rhodium, ruthenium and iridium. The metal powder and peroxides sintering is the way to obtain the soluble form for 95% of platinum metal burnt.

The manufactures are used repeatedly in both of the processes.

Application of corundum plasmaceramic replaces containers from quartz which apparently contaminate the main component with silicon, and it also replaces expensive containers made of precious metals.

All above mentioned products can be fabricated according to the Customer’s drawings and have peculiar properties such as: gas-and vacuum density, various porosity, given roughness of the surface.
